Responsible gambling
Gambling is entertainment you pay for — not income, and never a way to win back what you have lost.
The rules in India
Since the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 came into force with its Rules on 1 May 2026, online games played for money — casino games and betting included — may not be offered in India, and banks and payment systems may not process payments for them. Players are not penalised. It also means that an offshore casino gives you no Indian regulator to turn to in a dispute.
Tools inside your account
- Deposit limit — set it before you start, not in the middle of a session.
- Loss and time limits — they work because you choose them with a clear head.
- Cooling-off — close the account for days or weeks.
- Self-exclusion — close access to the account completely.
Signs to take seriously
Playing with money meant for rent, food or school fees; chasing losses; hiding how much you play; borrowing — from friends, a credit card or an instant-loan app — to keep playing; stopping only when the money runs out. Any one of these is a reason for a break.
The maths is simple: the house edge applies to every bet, so playing on to win back losses increases the expected loss. In fast games like crash games and in-play cricket betting it shows even sooner.
Where to get help
- Tele-MANAS — 14416 or 1-800-891-4416, the Government of India’s free national mental-health helpline, 24/7, in many Indian languages.
- Your doctor or a nearby government hospital — psychiatry departments treat gambling problems like any other addiction.
- Someone you trust — telling one person is often the step that makes the others possible.
Under 18s
If you share a phone with minors, use parental controls, never save a gaming session in the browser, and never share UPI PINs or OTPs.
